Background
Stephen Paul was born in Somerset and has lived in the area all his life, whether farming, landscape gardening , building, making beautiful ponds ,drystone walling or creating stone fireplaces . The outside is his favourite place to be.
His first experience with stone was with his Grandfather at an early age who was an inspiration to him.
Since then his affinity with his chosen material shines through. Stephen sees the design in the stone before the ideas are on paper or straight onto the stone, and a lot of his work he sees the design and stone in 3D.
Stephens work is all about the nature around us , from the trees rooted to the earth to the female form. Nature is incorporated in many of his carvings including leaves , berries and of course the Sun being the provider of all life .
