Simon Eeles

Potter

Background

Simon Eeles has been making wood-fired stoneware, marbled porcelain and raku for over 40 years.

Most recently Simon has been concentrating on the Copper Fumed Raku. This is a distinctive and exciting technique that will brighten any home. Each pot is fired using the ancient Japanese technique called Raku. The pot is fired to over 1,000 degrees centigrade, lifted from the kiln, glowing red hot and placed into burning sawdust. The flames and smoke react with the copper on the surface. The resulting reduction & oxidation process produces the most amazing effects and a stunning array of colours, making each pot a one off.
