Colin Giles

Woodturner

Background

Colin’s influences included the British and American artistic movements in the 1980s with natural edged and hollow~ form work, through American Windsor chair making to the smaller keepsake boxes and pendants he currently making.

He may return to natural edge work in future.

Colin has been a Guild member for about 30 years and an early member of the Woodturners Association, gaining experience from leading makers at that time.

He enjoys turning, finding the process a close connection between the maker and the piece, and the beauty of the hand-made as opposed to machine produced work very satisfying.
