Background
The inspiration for Alban’s work comes from the amazing art left behind to us from the Viking Age. These Scandinavian peoples from the early Middle Ages spread across the developed world as traders and raiders and also developed a flourishing artistic style, which survives in wood carvings and metal jewellery. These pieces are the origins of his own original work.
Taking the design from historical pieces, he develops them into jewellery for the 21st Century, giving people a link back to an ancient craft. Alban keeps the living art of Viking tradition alive.
Achievements
- Alban’s pieces have featured in film and television work, including the Bernard Cornwall series “The Last Kingdom”. In 2020 Alban was commissioned by Draghur Productions to produce Viking replica brooches and other jewellery for their forthcoming film “Northman” starring Nicole Kidman, due for release in 2022
